Second Dorchester Broker Acquisition in Two Months
Dorset’s only independent Chartered Insurance Broker Alan & Thomas are on the expansion trail again having recently acquired Casterbridge Insurance in Dorchester.
This is the second acquisition for Alan & Thomas in just two months as it comes hot on the heels of announcing the buy-out of Arthur Savage Insurance, also based in Dorchester.
The decision to work with Casterbridge was an easy one to make for Alan & Thomas CEO Julian Boughton, “Our plan is to build a strong footprint in the South West and to bring Casterbridge into the A&T family along with Arthur Savage, another recently acquired Dorchester based broking business, made perfect sense to us”.
"Casterbridge was set up in 1991 by its two principals, Corinne Simmonds and Patricia Buglass, who have over thirty years combined insurance experience in the local market. I am delighted that Corinne and her team will be joining us at Alan & Thomas, whilst Patricia is taking the opportunity to retire. Casterbridge have built an excellent reputation in the marketplace for providing a local, friendly and knowledgeable service and I am confident their contribution to Alan & Thomas will help us immeasurably in achieving our aims in the South West”.
The Dorchester arm of Alan & Thomas will operate from offices on High West Street for the time being but plans are afoot to expand the broker’s presence in the town and larger, more high profile premises will be sought, along with the provision of new jobs as demand for their service increases.
This latest broker acquisition for Alan & Thomas, whose headquarters are based in Poole, takes them to four offices and sixty six staff members. They currently manage over £26 million in Gross Written Premium for commercial businesses and private individuals across the UK.
