Ways your company can give back this Christmas

Christmas is an ideal time for workers to enjoy the festivities and also to help their local community, and other charities.

There are a number of ways that you and your work colleagues can raise money for good causes and have fun at the same time.

Why not start by revamping the Secret Santa tradition by adding another small gift and donating it to charity? Many organisations run a Secret Santa at Christmas whereby each worker buys a gift for a colleague anonymously. By buying an additional gift, or donating all the gifts to charity, you can help to spread some festive cheer amongst people who may not usually receive presents at Christmas.

Most of us enjoy a pre-Christmas lunch. A great way to raise money for charity is to arrange a Christmas party for your colleagues and to charge a small ‘entrance fee’ which you can then donate to charity. You could also have a whip round during the celebrations in order to boost your funds.

Many businesses like to send Christmas cards to their clients so this year opt for charity Christmas cards in order to support a good cause.

There are cards available from a vast number of different charities, and some charities even allow you to design your own. This is ideal for businesses; why not feature a photograph of your workforce in festive attire for a real personal touch?

Don’t just think about raising money for charities at Christmastime. Start a regular, monthly charity day and raise money for worthwhile causes every month of the year. You could start in December by participating in Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day where you make a small donation and in turn get to wear your Christmas jumper to the office.
