Insurance group run for charity
Staff at Alan & Thomas Insurance Group recently swapped their suits for shorts when they took part in the Great South Run to help raise funds for the Wessex Cancer Trust.
The team, which included A&T CEO Julian Boughton, tackled the ten mile route through the city of Portsmouth, whilst raising much needed funds for Wessex Cancer, their official charity of the year.
"Our close association with Wessex Cancer has resulted in us taking part in a number of fundraising initiatives over the past couple of years but this was our first real sporting effort, which we were all very much looking forward to" said Julian.
"Concern over the weather ahead of the race was largely unfounded and what could have been a complete wash out was actually a pleasant run with mainly blue skies. The last two miles running back along the seafront were quite troublesome though as very strong winds were doing their best to blow everyone backwards!"
"We had some very competent runners and a former Iron Man contestant in our team so we were well prepared and more than up for the challenge!"
The team consisted of Julian and his daughter Lois, along with Rob Gale, Simon Reeves and Julie Hillier from the Gillingham office of A&T, and Chris Baxter and David Wren from the broker's property owners' division based in Poole.
Generous family, friends and colleagues pledged their support for the team through donations and encouragement on the day.
