Boxing Clever for Alan & Thomas
Insurance specialists Alan & Thomas are sponsoring local businessman Paul Meyer when he steps into the ring as part of a 'white collar' charity boxing event this weekend.
Paul, from Jade-Aden Interiors, will be raising money for popular local man Matt Gaye, who at only 46 has been diagnosed with incurable Motor Neurone disease.
Alan & Thomas have a well-established association with Paul so it was an easy decision to sponsor his efforts in raising money for such a worthwhile cause. A&T Marketing Manager Hayley Baverstock remarked "As a business we like to support local community and charity events so when Paul approached us about his plans we were delighted to be involved and we wish him all the best in the ring. We would also like to extend our best wishes to Matt and his family".
The 'Warrior Fight Night' boxing event will be held at the Littledown Centre on 22 March. As well as the 'white collar' bouts, where executives will be set against each other in the ring, other fights on the bill involve various types of pugilism including Thai boxing and mixed martial arts. The 'white collar' boxing part of the evening, dubbed The Challenge, has been organised by The BC Club – a group of local businessmen which raises money for good causes. John Orchard, who trains the white collar boxers at the Bulldog gym in Bournemouth, said a proportion of all ticket sales will go towards Matt's care and all the fighters have volunteered to help with the fundraising efforts.
