A&T Win Star Company Award
Management and staff at Alan & Thomas Insurance Group are celebrating after scooping the Star Company award at the recent Rock Star Awards 2014 organised by Rock Recruitment.
Beating off stiff competition from nine other local companies in their category, the commercial insurance specialists, who have offices in Poole and Gillingham, were presented with their award at a prestigious ceremony and dinner at the O2 Academy in Bournemouth.
Alan & Thomas Chief Executive Julian Boughton is delighted to have received the award, "This is a momentous and fantastic result for A&T. We are rightly proud of our staff and are committed to investing in their training and development, which sees them grow and ultimately enjoy a fulfilling career with us".
"The category finalists were all worthy winners and listening to their initiatives, each had a truly compelling story to tell but to be victorious and win this award is a tremendous achievement for us and one that will go down in A&T history!"
Local law firm Frettens, who sponsored the Star Company award, were searching for a company that is dedicated to hiring, training and promoting from within, therefore offering opportunities and rewards to stars of the future. The ten category finalists were then put through a tough panel interview process to really delve deeper into each company's ethos and attitude to staff development.
A&T's investment in their people was highlighted on the night for the three hundred and fifty plus audience to witness and includes a wide range of initiatives such as their own in-house apprenticeship academy, which two local students from Bournemouth are currently enrolled in, the opportunity for all staff to study for professional qualifications, paid for staff social events throughout the year and a glittering annual staff awards ceremony, which recognises and rewards individuals for their achievements to the business throughout the year.
Leading the staff investment initiatives at A&T is HR Director Susan Reeves, who has been with the company for over sixteen years. As well as implementing a whole host of initiatives for existing staff and recruiting new talent into the business, she works closely with local schools and colleges in Dorset to help mentor school leavers and has been instrumental in the recent launch of an industry-wide apprenticeship programme for the insurance sector, which offers school leavers a genuine alternative to university and the opportunity to obtain a professional qualification at the same time as being in paid employment.
As well as a comprehensive induction and training plan for all new recruits, A&T staff are offered the opportunity to attend various training courses on insurance related topics and office and management skills.
This is the second award in as many years for A&T after they scooped the Contribution to the Community award at the Blackmore Vale Business Awards last year for their charity work.
