A&T excel in 'Apprentice' Style Challenge

A&T excel in Apprentice Style Challenge - Ice Cream Car

The team at Alan & Thomas recently took part in the Wessex Cancer Business Challenge to turn £25 into as much money as possible in just one week and raised over £530.

Loosely based on BBC's The Apprentice with Lord Sugar, the challenge saw the Poole office of Alan & Thomas compete against other local businesses in the Dorset area to come up with fundraising ideas to raise money for the Trust, where the starting £25 and any profit thereafter could be re-invested to make larger returns.

'Project Manager' for the task was A&T Marketing Manager Hayley Baverstock, who rallied the team into organising various activities throughout the week-long challenge, which included a skittles evening, a special afternoon tea treat and a bake sale in the Poole office.

"We also brought some of our clients into the mix and asked for their help in the challenge, for which we are extremely grateful. Poole Audi donated an Audi Convertible for the weekend for us to raffle off to staff, AFC Bournemouth donated two tickets to a Championship league game for the coming season as another raffle prize and we helped Bournemouth-based Big Chief Ices to sell ice creams for a slice of the profit once we had sought permission for them to be located on the Poole Retail Park, opposite our office, for the weekend."

"It was a busy week with lots of activities going on and it certainly created a buzz in the office. We are so pleased to have raised this money for Wessex Cancer, and all in just one week, as we know how worthwhile their work is for cancer patients and their families in our region" concluded Hayley.

Wessex Cancer Trust have been Alan & Thomas' official charity since 2012 and last year alone, they helped raise in excess of £7,000, which is paying for this year's running costs of the Trust's holiday home for patients and their families at the Hoburne Naish Holiday Park in New Milton. A&T were also winners of the Blackmore Vale Business Award for 'Community Contribution' last month for their support and work with Wessex Cancer.
